OK, so I've always been artsy craftsy, but life kind of got in the way for a few years. You know, marriage, kids, job. A while back I stumbled on the magazine Cloth Paper Scissors and it really rejuvinated me creativity. Last year it was quilts. This year, I've decided to delve into the world of art journal/collage/alterd books. (It's slow going but thank goodness for snow days and school holidays!) This is the front cover. It's kind of hard to tell in the photo but here's what I did: The tree picture is one I took at Wilson's Ford during our big Christmas snow. I printed it on an overhead and used a gel medium to glue to the front of the book. Then I collaged the backpacker on top of the picture, did a little water coloring, and wrote on the backpack. The stuff at the top is just assorted collage, stamps, and markers. Since it was the first of 2010 I thought the theme of "journey" was as good as any :-)
I started on my "journey" about 3 years ago, and I'm on my 14th art journal! You are embarking on an addictive hobby, but an extremely satisfying one. You might check out Scrapbookgraphics Art Journal Caravan for lots of ideas.
